The International Essay Competition in English “Social Justice: Problems, Discussions, Solutions” (hereinafter the Competition, the Competition venue) is held at several venues of the XV Eurasian Economic Youth Forum (hereinafter the XV EEYF) within the framework of the Congress of Entrepreneurship and Engineering.

The competition is dedicated to the World Day of Social Justice. In many countries around the world, educational lectures, seminars, and conferences are held in connection with this event, where pressing problems in the social sphere are discussed, and proposals for improving legislation, employment programs, and social security are considered.

Objectives of the Competition:

• to draw the attention of participants to the problem of social inequality that people face due to their gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability;
• analysis and critical understanding of the problem identified by the Competition theme, search for possible solutions;
• increasing interest in studying English as a language of international cooperation and joint discussion of global human problems.

Competition Directions:

1. Justice as an original value of traditional cultures of the world.

2. Historical justice and historical memory.

The competition is held in the form of a selection of the best essays submitted in English, prepared individually based on an analytical approach to the areas of the Competition, as well as the creative application of knowledge and skills in the field of a foreign language as a tool of the Competition participant.

The finalists present their work in person in the form of an oral presentation.

Competition participants: students aged 18 to 35 years in non-linguistic fields of study at universities and academic institutes in China.

Applications for participation in the Competition are submitted before March 20, 2025 through the registration system of the XV EEYF website (eurasia-forum.ru), choosing during registration: Venue: China, Harbin – name of the Competition.

The lists of competition finalists invited to defend their works in person and to participate in the final events of the Forum will be published on the competition page from April 1 to 10, 2025.

The in-person defense will take place on April 23, 2025.

The award ceremony for the finalists of the Site Competition and the finalists of the International Final of the Competition will take place on April 24, 2025, simultaneously (via video link) at two sites:

• at the main site of the XV EEYF at the Ural State University of Economics (hereinafter USUE), Yekaterinburg, Russia;
• at the site of China at the Harbin Institute of Petroleum.

Winners and prize winners of each section of the Competition will be awarded diplomas and cash prizes:

• 7,000 rubles - for 1 place
• 5,000 rubles - for 2nd place
• 3,000 rubles - for 3rd place

The winners of the Competition, awarded the 1st degree Diploma, are awarded points for individual achievements when applying for admission to study at USUE in master's programs (2 points).

Following the final events, it is planned to publish a collection of materials of the XV EEYF, where the abstracts of the finalists of the Competition will be posted. The collection will be indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index and on the website of the Ural State University of Economics.
