All professions are important! All professions are in need!

The finalists of the international video competition “I Choose...”, which is held as part of the Schoolchildren Congress of the XIV Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, have been determined. The jury members selected 10 works that will strive for victory in the final stage - online voting.

Over 60 persons submitted their applications for the competition. These are 9th -11th grade school students from Yekaterinburg, Pyshma, Bogdanovich, Revda, Magnitogorsk, Kusa, Ozersk, Surgut, and Makhachkala, and high school students from Kyrgyzstan and Algeria. There is something worth to compete for: the title of laureate of the Eurasian Economic Youth Forum and 5 additional points to the Unified State Examination results upon admission to USUE are at stake.

“The competition is of vital importance. It is interesting and necessary to talk about professions, especially for high school seniors, since they face a choice of specialty to master in the future. All of them are incredibly talented. They submitted such interesting and different videos,” Ekaterina Pastushkova, the competition coordinator, head of the USUE Office for Career Guidance Counseling, noted.

The international video competition “I Choose...” takes place in two areas. In the Cool Profession category, schoolchildren talked about the professions they would like to connect their lives with or just admire representatives of a certain industry. Participants praised the work of a ski coach, a teacher of the Russian language and literature, and creative professionals.

Within the second category, Profession of the Future, schoolchildren prepared videos about professions related to information technologies.

“IT specialist is truly a profession with a future. Those who work with artificial intelligence and machine learning are in great demand. However, the labor market is gradually getting saturated and competition is growing, so it is important to choose a proper direction in this large industry. For example, to become an engineer or develop cyber prostheses. This is the scenario of development that the participants of the competition see,” Mikhail Panov, a member of the expert commission of the competition, acting head of the USUE Department of Information Technologies and Statistics, said.

Experts evaluated the competition entries according to the following criteria: literacy and authenticity, novelty and originality, practical relevance, personal attitude to the profession, and visual aesthetics. Now it’s the Internet users’ turn. The online community on VK “I’m Entering USUE! Entrant–2024” has already published the works of the winning contenders. Anyone may vote for their favorite video. The main thing is to do this no later than April 9. The names of the winners will be announced on April 22 at USUE.
