Sambists at USUE

National SAMBO competitions among students of the zonal stage “Student Sambo League Cup” have ended in Yekaterinburg. Athletes from ten regions of Russia took to the carpet at Ural State University of Economics.

According to the Director of the Anti-Corruption Department of the Sverdlovsk Region, a member of the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region, Master of Sports in Sambo, Ilham Shiraliyev, all these athletes are real fighters who are not afraid of difficulties.

“It is gratifying that Yekaterinburg, which is celebrating its 300th anniversary this year, has become the venue for the competition. We see that the popularity of sambo is growing, and the government pays great attention to its development. Sambo is a sport of brave, courageous people, real fighters who are not afraid of difficulties. It is these people who make our Russia strong,” Ilham Shiraliyev says.

100 athletes took part in the competition.

“Today we saw about 80 boys and 30 girls on the mat,” senior sambo coach Azat Dautov says. “The quorum gathered many cities that joined the Student Sambo League. This is Vladivostok, Vladimir, Samara, Tyumen and others. The best praise for the organizers is probably when the visiting athletes say that everything went smoothly: the carpets are stretched, there is enough light, the banner is on, the microphones are working, the judges are qualified. What else does an athlete need to make a good showing? It is the level of training. And I want to note that it is at the highest level.”

According to Azat Dautov, athletes were specially chosen no higher than masters of sports, but many juniors fought at the level of masters.

Our region is not going to rest on its oars. The head of the competition, acting head of the USUE Department of Physical Education and Sports, Maxim Kocheryan, stressed that it is important to hold competitions in any sport.
