Diplomatic conversation

As part of the 16th Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, an international Diplomatic Forum was held at the Governor's Residence of the Sverdlovsk region. Its participants were major public associations, businessmen, and government officials. This year's theme was “The Eurasian Environment: Partnership Strategy in an Era of Global Change.”

The event was attended by 80 foreign and Russian officials of diplomatic missions of various levels, including Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iraq, Eritrea, Bahrain, Brazil, Panama, Guinea, and other countries.

USUE acting rector, Yakov Silin, opened the diplomatic forum: “We live in an era of transformation of the global architecture of the world order. Under these conditions, Eurasia is no longer simply a geographical space. It is becoming the epicenter of a new world order, where trust is the key currency and strategic partnership is the key instrument. Eurasia is valuable precisely for its unique civilizational blends. True partnership is built on deep humanitarian dialogue, where languages, history, and traditions form the foundation for mutual understanding.”

Vasily Kozlov, Deputy Governor of the Sverdlovsk region, delivered a welcoming address: “This year, we celebrate 35 years of international relations of the Sverdlovsk region. Currently, the region actively collaborates with partners from over 120 countries. Despite external challenges, the Sverdlovsk region has not only maintained contacts with constructive countries but also expanded its ties with dozens of foreign partners from Asia, Africa, Middle East, and Latin America."

Alexander Kharlov, a representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yekaterinburg, said that foreign countries are eager to cooperate with Russia. He emphasized that Russian Language Centers have been established in several foreign countries, and Russians' interest in learning foreign languages remains strong.

“Our youth are interested in learning foreign languages, including Chinese and Spanish. We are counting on your support so that Russian can be studied in your countries as well,” Kharlov told the forum participants.

The meeting wasn't limited to topics of globalization and partnership. Vladimir Kuznetsov, Chairman of the UN Country Team in Russia, emphasized that we found ourselves in a tense international situation. "Today, the world is at the epicenter of an international confrontation. For example, the conflict in the Middle East is affecting people's lives, and is rising food and fuel prices. The UN World Food Program predicts that this conflict could lead to record global famine this year."

In his speech, Waleed Hamed Shiltagh, head of the Arab League's office in Russia, expressed concern about the political situation in the Middle East and emphasized the need to end aggression against Arab countries.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation Hamdi Shaaban Abdel Halim Mohamed, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lebanon to the Russian Federation Bashir Shawki Saleh Azzam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Russian Federation Sergio Rodrigues Dos Santos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation Alba Azucena Torres Mejia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the Russian Federation Mohammed Nazrul Islam also expressed their thoughts on the start of partnership in the changing world.
