What is our life? A game!
Within the XIII Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, Aleksei Blinov, a member of the St. Petersburg Public Council for Youth Policy and the “Best Captain of the Club of Experts” in the game “What? Where? When?”, delivered a public lecture “Game Space or the Possibilities of Modern Gamification in Improving Youth Communications.”
Aleksei Blinov began his lecture by addressing the students: “Remember how our parents used to tell us: ‘Everything is toys for you, you play all the time.’ And now we say: ‘If you know, do play!’ Because games are the best means for interaction and communication, the way to motivate yourself for training and education. So do play, play always!”
The speaker noted today he would talk about games as such. The formats may be different, but basically these are mind games, both individual and team. ones
“I am a supporter of team games, because this is a good way to learn how to work in a team. In a game, you can create a situation where you can see how you can lead a team, work in a team, assemble a team to achieve specific goals,” Aleksei Blinov said.
Today, a game is the most demanded way of communication. It is the space of thinking youth. It provides excellent opportunities for the rapid dissemination of information. Today, it is also the fastest way to communicate with the target audience.
Further, the speaker spoke about gaming technologies and their functions: entertaining, communicative, self-realization functions, game therapy and diagnostic.
The major function of any game is to entertain, give pleasure, inspire, arouse interest. Apart from that, it promotes the developing of communication dialectics, overcoming various difficulties that arise in other types of life, as well as identifying deviations from normative behavior, and self-understanding.
“Why do we play games? Because games give us positive emotions, they give us excitement without risk. In games, everything is clear and well-arranged in pigeonholes, and you know what it’s like to win! Even so, you should go all-out to win the game. Any game means training,” Aleksei Blinov said.
