International Competition of Scientific Research Papers «Law Enforcement and Human Rights Activities: Evolution and Innovation»

The international competition of students' research papers "Law enforcement and human rights activities: evolution and innovation" is held by the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Ural State University of Economics" (USUE) within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Youth Forum.

The purpose of the competition is to increase students' interest in their chosen profession, stimulate interest in research activities in the field of human rights protection, develop interest in current issues of human rights protection and individual dignity, the place and role of a citizen in the legal system, the relationship between the state and the individual, and the activities of state and public human rights institutions.

Objectives of the competition:

  • to identify the analytical potential of young lawyers, economists and financiers;
  • to ensure the integration of youth science with the global scientific research environment;
  • to develop skills in conducting comparative legal research, developing recommendations for improving legislation;
  • to assess the current situation and strategic thoughts in the development of the country and a specific territory;
  • to cultivate legal consciousness among young people;
  • to disseminate a clear understanding of the relationship between rights and freedoms with responsibility, the ability to resolve conflict situations by legal means. 

Competition Directions:

  • Interaction of state and non-state actors in human rights policy.
  • Development of legal frameworks for monitoring the results of human rights activities.
  • Improving the system of legal means of protecting the law.
  • Development and observance of the principles of the rule of law.
  • Improving the quality of administration of justice.
  • Bringing the human rights system of Russia into line with international standards.
  • Legal education in the field of protection of rights.
  • Resolution of disputes and conflicts between citizens, public organizations and state bodies, officials by legal means.
  • Main directions of formation and features of implementation of criminal procedure policy of the Russian Federation.
  • Fight against corruption by means of criminal law 

Participants of the Competition are high school students, students, postgraduates of educational organizations, academic institutes and other interested organizations of Russia and foreign countries under the age of 35. 

Completed works, completed individually or collectively (teams of up to 3 people), are submitted to the competition. 

Applications for participation in the Competition, competition works and abstracts of works are submitted before March 20, 2025 through the registration system of the site:

– an individual participant submits an application through the registration system of the site, choosing the category "individual participation"

– team participation. One of the participants chooses the category "team captain", the others - "team member". In the "Topic of work" field, everyone indicates the title of their work. The team captain attaches a file with the competition work to the registration form, where all the authors of the work are indicated; as well as a file with the abstracts of the work. A "team member" can attach empty files to complete the registration.

The lists of competition finalists invited to the in-person defense of their works and to participate in the final events of the Forum will be published on the competition page from April 1 to 10, 2025.

The in-person defense will take place on April 23, 2025 from 10:30 to 15:30, the award ceremony will take place on April 24, 2025 from 15:00 to 16:00.

Participation in the final is also possible using remote technologies - registered participants and experts gain access to USUE cloud resources based on the Tolk platform and connect to interactive sessions within the events through teams created in Tolk. 

Winners and prize winners of the Competition are awarded with diplomas, orders and cash prizes: 

  • 15,000 rubles - for 1st place
  • 10,000 rubles - for 2nd place
  • 5,000 rubles - for 3rd place 

The winners of the Competition, awarded a 1st degree Diploma, are awarded points for individual achievements when applying for admission to study at USUE in Master's programs (2 points).

Following the final events, it is planned to publish a collection of EEYF materials, where the abstracts of the Competition finalists will be posted. The collection will be posted in the Russian Science Citation Index and on the website of the Ural State University of Economics at the link
