The All-Russian student competition “Tournament of Natural Sciences” is held by the Ural State University of Economics (Ural State University of Economics) in collaboration with the Ural State Agrarian University, the Ural State Mining University, and the Ural State Forestry University.

The purpose of the Competition is to improve the quality of training of specialists, increase students’ interest in applied sciences and technologies, identify and develop students’ interest in natural sciences, promote natural science knowledge, identify gifted youth.

Participants of the Competition: students of higher educational institutions aged 18 to 25 years.

Participation in the Tournament is a team one. The team size is 4-5 people. Only one team can be represented from one organization.

The Natural Sciences Tournament is a team creative competition between students, aimed at realizing and developing their abilities to solve applied and theoretical scientific problems, and defending them during polemics during the Scientific Battle. Solving the problems proposed for the Tournament requires knowledge in the field of physics, chemistry and biology. The tournament provides a unique opportunity to apply existing fundamental knowledge in solving interesting practical problems.

An expert commission is appointed to evaluate the results of completing assignments. The results of the Tournament are summed up based on the calculation of points awarded by members of the expert commission. The maximum possible number of points is indicated in the Tournament tasks.

Applications for team participation in the Competition are submitted until March 20, 2024 through the site’s registration system: each team member submits an application, choosing “team captain” or “team member.” In the “Work Topic” field, all team members indicate the name of their team. The team captain attaches a file with the name of the team, a list of participants and the completion of the preliminary task to the registration form. To complete registration, a “team member” attaches a file with the name of his team and a list of participants.

The selection of teams for full-time participation in the Tournament is carried out by an expert commission based on an assessment of the completion of the preliminary task, which each team must attach to the website upon registration.

Preliminary target 2024.

Teams applying for participation in the tournament must prepare a scientific essay on the topic: “Scientific discoveries that will change the world: comments on news from the field of science and technology.” The topic of the essay reflects the scientific direction of the tournament, related to the solution of applied scientific problems in the field of physics, chemistry, and biology.

Team essay requirement.

The essay is a pre-completed task in the form of a presentation and includes: analysis of news about a scientific achievement, the reality of its implementation and practical application.

Lists of teams participating in the competition invited to the Natural Sciences Tournament will be published on the competition page from April 1 to April 10, 2024.
